High drama unfolded in Kandabahali village under Kantabanji Police Station in Balangir district after a groom allegedly fled with his girlfriend on the day of his wedding. Nilachal Chhatria of Salepada Nuapada village under Muribahal block was scheduled to marry a local girl.

While the bride’s family had completed all arrangements and were waiting for the barajatri as per the fixed lagna, the groom’s side did not arrive. It was later learnt that Nilachal had eloped with his girlfriend before the ceremony.
