Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman made a big announcement for Odisha in the Union Budget 2026‑27 presented in the Lok Sabha on 1 February 2026. As part of the Budget, the Centre announced plans to support rare earth mineral corridors in mineral‑rich states including Odisha, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu — aimed at boosting mining, processing, research and manufacturing of these critical minerals within India itself.
