An FIR has been registered in Jagatsinghpur district against District Mining Officer Satish Tarai in connection with ongoing action against illegal sand mining, local officials confirmed. In recent weeks, authorities have stepped up enforcement under Operation Balu Bajra, seizing over 40 sand-laden trucks and multiple excavators during a late-night raid at Kilipal Sand Sairat along the Mahanadi river. The crackdown exposed extensive unauthorised sand extraction well beyond permitted boundaries.
