Farmers Block Sonpur–Binika–Barpali Road Over Paddy Procurement and Token Issues

Angry farmers blocked the Sonpur–Binika–Barpali main road protesting irregular paddy procurement and token-related issues. Thousands of quintals of paddy have been lying at the Sarasamal mandi under Dunguripali block in Subarnapur district for the past 11 days, but procurement has not started.

Farmers alleged that not only has their paddy remained unsold, but they have also not received procurement tokens. Frustrated over the delay, farmers from Sarasamal took to the streets, placing sacks of paddy on the road and staging a blockade.

The protest has brought vehicular movement on the busy stretch to a complete halt, causing inconvenience to commuters.
