A major fire broke out early morning at a supermarket inside a multi-storey super mart near Lingipur in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, and firefighters battled the blaze for over 12–18 hours before finally bringing it under control, inflicting heavy damage to property worth crores of rupees though no casualties have been reported; the Odisha Fire and Emergency Services deployed multiple fire tenders, foam and water, and even drilled holes in walls to douse the stubborn flames that spread through the four-storey structure, forcing the evacuation of nearby residents and sparking concerns about fire safety in commercial complexes. Officials said the fire began late on Monday night and intensified due to flammable goods stored inside, prompting a prolonged operation, rescue of staff members trapped inside and ongoing investigations into the cause.
