A special POCSO court in Banda, Uttar Pradesh, has sentenced a husband-wife duo to death by hanging for the horrific sexual exploitation of 34 minor children and selling obscene videos of the abuse online. The convicts, Ram Bhawan (a former junior engineer) and his wife Durgawati, lured vulnerable kids with chocolates, toys, and video games to their home between 2010 and 2020, subjected them to unnatural sexual assault, filmed the acts (with the wife recording), and sold the child pornography to buyers in nearly 45 countries, including China and America.
The court described the crimes as falling under the "rarest of rare" category due to their systematic nature, prolonged duration, and extreme depravity, leaving no scope for reformation. The verdict delivers strong justice for the victims, highlighting zero tolerance for such heinous acts against children.
