Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will perform Makar Bud on the occasion of Makar Sankranti today. The ritual holy dip will take place at Shaibya Kaberi Ghat on the Baitarani river near Rajanagar in Kendujhar district. Elaborate arrangements have been made by the district administration for the Chief Minister’s visit and the ceremony.

The participation of the Chief Minister in the traditional ritual highlights the cultural significance of Makar Sankranti, which is observed with sacred river baths across Odisha.

Last year, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi had taken a holy dip in the Baitarani river near the Patana Parameswar Shiva Temple, continuing the tradition associated with the festival.
