A severe cold wave has tightened its grip across Odisha during the month of Magha, leaving residents shivering under intense winter conditions. The biting cold has caused widespread distress, with people across the state struggling to cope with the falling temperatures.

While frost-like conditions have been reported in some areas, dense fog has enveloped others. The mercury has reportedly touched zero at Similipal, while Kandhamal district is among the worst affected. In G. Udayagiri, the minimum temperature has dropped to 3 degrees Celsius, and in as many as 23 cities across the state, temperatures have fallen below 10 degrees Celsius.
