In Bhubaneswar, a tragic incident occurred when an illegal hoarding collapsed, claiming two lives. The state government has taken this matter seriously, providing financial assistance to the families of the deceased and the injured through the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, with additional aid of around ₹4 lakh for Kala Vaishakhi victims from SRC. BMC Commissioner Chanchal Rana confirmed that the hoarding was illegal and had been officially marked for removal in December. The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has now launched an operation to cut down all illegal hoardings, with tenders already finalized last week, and plans to sell the removed structures to recover funds for the civic body. The Commissioner warned that future incidents caused by unlawful hoardings will lead to strict legal action against responsible organizations.
