Strong opposition has erupted against mine expansion work in the Lanjiberna area of Rajgangpur in Sundargarh district, with thousands of Adivasi residents taking to the streets in protest. The agitation is against land acquisition for the expansion of a mine operated by a company in Rajgangpur.

As part of the protest, demonstrators blocked the Sundargarh–Rajgangpur road for nearly 12 hours, causing major disruption to traffic movement. The protest involved residents from five panchayats surrounding the Lanjiberna area.

The local residents issued a firm warning, stating that they are willing to die but will not give up even an inch of their land [literal assertion indicating absolute resistance]. The protest highlights growing resentment among tribal communities over land acquisition for mining projects.
