In a major public health initiative, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch a nationwide Cervical Cancer vaccination programme on the 28th. Under the Central Government’s drive, the HPV vaccine will be provided free of cost in government hospitals across the country for adolescent girls.

Girls up to 14 years of age will receive a single dose of the vaccine. Those above 14 years until marriageable age will be administered three doses. The programme aims to protect young girls from Cervical Cancer, also known as uterine cancer.
