Today, Rourkela Police conducted a passing-out parade for new Home-Guard recruits at the parade ground — marking a significant milestone as 118 cadets successfully completed their training and swore allegiance. The ceremony was attended by senior officers and many family members, under a well-organised security and administrative setup.

Among the 118 new guards, 34 are graduates (i.e. higher-educated) — a mix reflecting the community’s enthusiasm and aspirations for public service. After intensive training both in office and field duty, these cadets donned their uniforms, took the oath, and joined the Home-Guard force.

Officials noted that in recent years such a large-scale induction had not taken place — despite nearly ten thousand applications for the Home Guard. This fresh batch is expected to bolster local security and support law-enforcement efforts in Rourkela and surrounding areas.
