Konark Sun Temple Sanctum Excavation Begins; ASI Says Structure Remains Safe

କୋଣାର୍କ ସୂର୍ଯ୍ୟ ମନ୍ଦିର ଗର୍ଭଗୃହରୁ ବାଲି ବାହାର କରିବାକୁ ଆରମ୍ଭ ହୋଇଛି ପ୍ରକ୍ରିୟା। ଗତକାଲି ସନ୍ଧ୍ୟା ସୁଦ୍ଧା ୧୬ ସେଣ୍ଟିମିଟର ଗୋଲେଇରେ ନଅ ମିଟର ଲମ୍ବର ଗର୍ତ୍ତ ଖୋଳା ଯାଇଛି । ମନ୍ଦିର ଗର୍ଭଗୃହ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ଥିବା ବାଲି ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ଏହି ଖନନ ପହଞ୍ଚିିଛି। ଗର୍ଭଗୃହ କାନ୍ଥର ଚଉଡା ଆଠ ମିଟର ଥିବା ଜଣାପଡିଛି । ଏହି ଖନନ ପରେ ଗର୍ଭଗୃହର ବାଲି ଓ ପଥର ଖଣ୍ଡ ସଂଗ୍ରହ କରାଯାଇ ମାଡ୍ରାସ ଆଇ ଆଇ ଟି ପଠାଯିବ। ତେବେ ଗର୍ଭଗୃହର ବାଲିରେ ଆଦ୍ରତା ଥିବା ଏଏସଆଇ କହିଛି।

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has started the process of removing sand from the garbhagriha (sanctum) of the Konark Sun Temple. By yesterday evening, a 16-centimetre-wide and 9-metre-long trench had been dug, reaching the sand that lies inside the sanctum. Initial findings indicate that the sanctum walls are nearly 8 metres thick.
