While top political parties flood Nuapada with high-budget campaigns, independent tribal leader Bhaktabandhu Dharua is winning attention through simplicity and sincerity. Contesting the Nuapada by-election, Dharua has written around one lakh postcards to voters, appealing personally for their support.

Every day, he writes nearly 10,000 letters with the help of supporters, reaching voters directly instead of relying on money or mass rallies. “I want to win people’s hearts, not buy their votes,” says Dharua.
