Late Saturday night, a devastating fire broke out at a nightclub in Arpora, North Goa, after what officials believe was a gas cylinder explosion. The blaze claimed at least 23 lives, including many club staff and possibly some tourists, as rescue operations by fire-brigade teams continued through the night. The deaths occurred just after midnight at the popular venue, Birch by Romeo Lane, in the Baga-Arpora area.
